Give Blood, Give the Gift of Life

The annual blood donation campaign of the Leo club of university of Moratuwa was held on 24th November 2009 at the university health center. It was a successful event from the beginning and more than 175 donors donated their blood on this occasion.

This is the 6th time in UOM Leo history we conducted a Blood Donation Campaign, and this time the occasion was held in memorial of Mahesh Abaywickrama and Piyumal Gunawardane and all of the soldiers who fought for the sake of the country. The project was carried as a joint project with our parent lion club Lions club of Dehiwala North.

We would like to thanks all the blood detonators , staff of the blood bank ,staff of the university health center and all the others who helped us to success this event.

LEO annual mass induction - District 306 A2/ 306 C2

Leo annual mass induction of Leo district 306 A2 and 306 C2 was held on 31st October 2009 at the civil auditorium of the University of Moratuwa in a proud manner with the contribution of more than 350 Leos and Leo prospects. this event was organized by the Leo district 306 A2 together with district 306C2 , from district 306A2 leo clubs of University of Moratuwa, Kalubovila and Piliyandala gave there fullest support and leo club of Colombo Knights from district 306 C2.

This was the first time of the Leo history that much of Leos were inducted at a time, so this was very proud moment for our club and other clubs who gave there support to success the event. The chief guest of the occasion was PIP Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya and number of guest were participated to the event .

Congratulation goes from the Leo club of UOM to more than 200 Leo prospects who were inducted, including Leo prospects from Baticaloa and Beliaththa as Leos and 17 from our club.

other special event of the occasion was launching of the Multiple district web site by the chief guest . Leo club of Kesbewa was installed on that day as a new club for district 306A2 and Raththanapitiya club was reactivated.

The 3rd general meeting for the month of October 2009/2010

The 3^rd general meeting of the leo club of university of moratuwa was held on 07^th October 2009 at the textile auditorium, university of moratuwa with contribution of more than 50 leos and leo prospect. The guest of honour of the occasion was the zone Chairman of the District 306A2 Lion Naleen Gunasekara and chief guest was vice president of the leo district 306A2 Leo Thilini Jayaweera. The most prominent event of the meeting was the induction of the Leo of the month according to the concept of the chairman of the club Leo Sameera Hewage.

After the meeting there had been an interactive session on report writing, done by Leo Hansi Sitinamaluwa and an orientation programme on the leonism conducted by Leo Ruwan Narampanawa which enhanced the value of the gathering.

"Heart to Heart"-Children's Day programme in IDP camp at Vaunia

After the war has been ended everyone think that everything is fine.Yes it's true that the violence has ended, but still there are people who are willing for our love and affection there.Because of the unnecessary war continued by the LTTE lot of children like us had lost their childhood.Not only they lost their childhood but also they lost their parents,brothers,sisters and many more.Some of them are disabled.They are none other than the victims of the LTTE by becoming child soldiers who are also our friends.We should show our love and respect to those innocent children.

So this year Leos of university of Moratuwa was engaged in a memorial event on the 1st of October ,showing that who are the real leos

and what actually their responsibility is.In collaboration with Rehabilitation Department of Sri Lanka,we organized a children's day programme at the IDP camp in Vaunia on the Children's Day in this year.Leo club of Colombo Circle in leodistrict B2 also j0int with us

in this major event.

At the end of the day,we were delighted by seeing the cherished faces of those children.Not only that but also the officers and soldiers of sri Lanka Army enjoyed the proceedings specially "The Magic Show" as they appreciated our immense work again and again.So once again Leo club of university of Moratuwa had done a magnificent job on behalf of the country.
