EL TALENTO'18

Talents are limitless. If you are capable of doing something very well then it is a talent of yours. Some may take time to come across in finding the talent they have. But it is never too late to find the hidden talent within you. Until you find the talent of yours, you will feel like an ordinary person. But the uniqueness of everyone in the world is incomparable.

“El talento” which is organized for the Leos in the district by the Leo District Council 306A2, carries an opportunity for them to perform their talents on a stage. This is mainly organized in aid of one of the district projects ‘One rupee one child’. This time, “El Talento’18” was held on 31st of March 2018 at Defence college auditorium from 4.00 p.m. onwards.

It was a stunning evening for all the Lions and Leos who graced the occasion. The breath-taking talents of the Leos in the District was unbelievably outstanding. It is a privilege as Leos of the District 306A2 to take part in a massive event like “El talento” which gives an experience of a lifetime.

Vidu nanasa

It is a necessity of a country to build brilliant minds for the future successions. Education is the key to proceed on this mission. As Sri Lankans we are privileged with free education and there is no doubt that most of us are here due to that support. As UoM Leos we are always willing to return our gratitude for what we gained through this education system. We always try our best to find schools with minimum facilities, whom we can serve with maximum capabilities. Project “Vidu Nanasa” is one of those events.
Together with the idea and the support from Lecturer Sanjaya Weerakkodi of University of Ruhuna it was successfully held on 17th and 18th of March 2018 at Pudaluoya Jayahela National College from 8.00a.m. to 4.00 p.m. under the “Siyak Sipsal” project series. This project was done aiming students who are going to face the Ordinary Level Examination. They were given the chance of engaging in all the practical sessions based on the syllabuses of grade 10 and 11 which became a tremendous help for their examination.

Pehesara Hetak

There are many forces that are waiting outside to snatch the dreams, and lives of the younger generation, from our country’s future. We, partly bear the responsibility of securing those dreams and lives for the countries sake. That is why, the Leo Club of University of Moratuwa, launched this ‘Pehesara Hetak’- Drug Addiction Prevention Program, with the collaboration of National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, to ensure a bright future for the country’s children.

The main aim of the project series is to conduct awareness sessions, regarding the prevention of drugs and smoking addiction, among the school children island wide. One such effort was successful on 16th of March at Pinnawala National School, as the second step of our program. There we were able to aware the students about the bad effects of dangerous drug consumption, and the results of smoking. Bearing the hope of continuing the program in schools all around the country within the upcoming months we concluded the day successfully.

GREEN GATEWAY

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks”

We are an awesome creation of this nature and we will remain as a part of it forever. There is no time for us to notice the beauty of nature because we are too busy with our lives. In a time which we find ourselves distant from nature, we decided to organize a club trip to enjoy the wonder of nature.

We departed on 10th of March to visit Sinharaja Forest Reserve, which is well known both as a world heritage and a place full of nature’s wonders. The walk in the forest nurtured our mind, soul and body with the miracles of natural forces. We realized that it is indeed a miracle which we always depend upon.
