Oceans Alive

Being above water has many beautiful sights to offer but just where those beauties end another world with its own beauties begins. Ocean, which contains ninety seven percent of the earth’s water and covers almost three quarters of the planet, has its own beauty hidden from our eyesight. Due to many human activities this beauty is dying day by day.

Oceans Alive was a project organized by the Leo district 306 A2, Zone B1 in order to minimize coastal and ocean pollution to conserve the coastal region sustainably. The first phase of the project was successfully completed on 17th October by conducting a beach cleanup program, Oceania at 4 venues, Dehiwala Beach, Mt.Lavinia Beach, Wellawatte Beach, and Matara Beach. Though there was a risk with pandemic situations, many Leos contributed to the  program, observing the health guidelines.

Many living species including humans rely on the ocean. If the ocean disappears so will humans. Ocean Conservancy isn’t only saving the oceans and millions of other creatures but is also saving humans.
