VR වන්දනා

සමාජ සත්කාර මෙහෙවරෙහි නවමු මංපෙත් සොයායන මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝ සමාජයේ පුරෝගාමී ගමන් මඟෙහි තවත් එක් පියවරක් පසුගියදා සනිටුහන් විය. නව ලොවෙහි පෙරළිකාර තාක්ෂණයක් වන ‘VR තාක්ෂණය’ ඵලදායීව යොදා ගනිමින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද ‘VR වන්දනා’ ව්‍යාපෘතිය පසුගිය ජනවාරි මස විසිහතර වන දින හොරණ වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයේදී ඉතා සාර්ථකව අවසන් කෙරුණි.

ශාරීරික හා භෞතික සීමා පසෙකලමින් සැදෑ සමය ගතකරන අපේම වැඩිහිටියන්ට VR තාක්ෂණය ඔස්සේ දුරස්ථව පිහිටි විවිධ සිද්ධස්ථාන වැදපුදා ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව සලසා දීම මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ මූලික අරමුණ විය. වැඩිහිටියන්ගේ සිත් සතුටු කරමින් ඔවුන්ගේ මුවගට සිනහවක් ගෙන එනු පිණිස තේ පැන් සංග්‍රහක් සමඟ සංගීතමය වැඩසටහනක්ද ව්‍යාපෘතිය අතරවාරයේදී පැවැත්වුණි.

ව්‍යාපෘතිය සාර්ථකව සංවිධානය කිරීම උදෙසා සහයෝගය ලබා දුන් මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝ සමාජයේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් ඇතුළු සියළුම දෙනාට අපගේ ස්තූතිය පුදකර සිටිමු. එමෙන්ම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා අවශ්‍ය VR Box කට්ටල සපයමින් නිල තාක්ෂණික අනුග්‍රහය දැක්වූ Dialog - UoM Research Lab ආයතනයට ද අපගේ ගෞරවාන්විත ස්තූතිය පුදකරමු.

Zero to Hero

"Zero to Hero" was a Kabaddi workshop hosted by the Kabaddi Team of the University of Moratuwa in collaboration with Leo Club of University of Moratuwa. This workshop offered a unique chance for students to enhance their skills in the sport. Targeted at both beginners and those wishing to improve their techniques, it aimed to promote an interest in kabaddi at the university and boost participation levels.

Held at the university’s new gymnasium, the event included practical training sessions guided by skilled coaches. Participants, which comprised university students, members of the Kabaddi Team and Leos, took part in rigorous practice that encompassed basic techniques, defensive tactics and game strategies. The organized sessions aided students in deepening their comprehension of the sport while honing their agility, strength and cooperative skills.

With five hours of comprehensive training, Zero to Hero effectively created a space for students to engage with the competitive aspects of kabaddi while promoting friendship among players. By collaborating, the Kabaddi Team and Leo Club of University of Moratuwa demonstrated the significance of teamwork in encouraging sports and personal growth within the university.

FightOn

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women making early detection vital in saving lives. Recognizing this, Leo Club of Raththanapitiya and Leo Club of University of Moratuwa jointly organized “FightOn” which is a Breast Cancer Awareness Program & leaflet Distribution Campaign on February 6th, 2025 at Korathota Sri Somananda Vidyalaya, Kaduwela. The project aimed to educate mothers and students about breast cancer symptoms, self-examination techniques and the importance of early detection. The awareness session was carried out as an interactive awareness session with the help of MOH Kaduwela medical professionals. Mrs.H.A.S.P Rodrigo, public health nursing officer of MOH Kaduwela and DR. Niroshan Silva, medical officer of health were the resource persons for the session. Mrs. Rodrigo emphasized that the Korathota area records a high number of breast cancer cases underscoring the need for increased awareness. The event featured demonstrations on self-examinations, Q&A discussions and the distribution of educational leaflets. The project successfully reached about 70 beneficiaries. The project received positive feedback from participants reinforcing the importance of community-based health education. By raising awareness and encouraging proactive health measures, FightOn made a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer.

විදු සවිය

‘ඉගෙනුමට මග කියන විදුබිමට සවියක් ‘යන තේමාවෙන් මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝ සමාජය විසින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන විදු සවිය ව්‍යාපෘතියේ පළමු අදියරය, 2024 දෙසැම්බර් මස 12 සහ 13 යන දිනවලදී දුම්බර මානාන මහා විද්‍යාලයේදී සාර්ථකව අවසන් කිරීමට අපට හැකිවිය.

දුම්බර මානාන මහා විද්‍යාලයේ භෞතික පහසුකම් නවීකරණය කරමින් එම පාසල තුල උසස් ඉගෙනුම් පරිසරයක් ඇතිකිරීම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ අරමුණ විය. ව්‍යාපෘතියට සමගාමීව සිසුන් විසින් පරිහරණය කරන මේස සහ පුටු සියයකට ආසන්න සංඛ්‍යාවක තීන්ත ආලේප කිරීම, විද්‍යාලයීය ප්‍රධාන ශාලාව පන්තිකාමර සඳහා වෙන් කිරීම සහ පන්තිකාමරවල දැල් ආවරණයන්හි තීන්ත ආලේප කිරීම යනාදී නවීකරණ කටයුතු සිදු කෙරුණි. මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝ සමාජයේ සාමාජිකයින් සහ දුම්බර මානාන මහා විද්‍යාලයේ සිසු සිසුවියන්ගේ ශ්‍රම දායකත්වයෙන් මෙම පළමු අදියර ඉතා ඵලදායීව නිමාවිය.

ව්‍යාපෘතියේ පළමු අදියරයෙහි සියළු කටයුතු සඳහා නන් අයුරින් සහය දුන් සැමටත්, දුම්බර මානාන මහා විද්‍යාලයේ විදුහල්පතිතුමා, ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය හා සිසු සිසුවියන්ටත් අපගේ ගෞරවාන්විත ස්තූතිය පුදකර සිටිමු.
