Rest with Hope

"Rest With Hope" project organized by Leo Club of University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the Title Partner Oracle Project Development Consultants, was launched on 25th of  October 2025 at the Avissawella District General Hospital. The primary aim of this initiative was to ease the discomfort of patients who are required to sit for long periods in overcrowded waiting areas with limited seating options. Many of these patients travel from rural areas, including elderly individuals and pregnant women.

During their visit to the hospital, members of Leo Club of University of Moratuwa identified the severe shortage of seating as a major challenge affecting patient comfort and well-being. In response, club took the responsibility of improving the situation by donating thirty five sturdy and comfortable chairs, giving patients a much-needed opportunity to rest while waiting for medical attention.

The impact was immediately visible once the chairs were placed in both the outpatient department and general waiting areas. Patients who previously had to endure long queues while standing were now able to sit comfortably. This simple addition significantly enhanced the overall atmosphere of the hospital, making it more welcoming and supportive in terms of patient care. Hospital staff expressed their gratitude, noting that this thoughtful contribution had made a remarkable difference in improving the quality of care provided to patients.
