Women being harassed in public has become a very frequent incident. Every day on social media it seems, we are hearing about women being victimized up many extents. Protecting the woman from these ha­rassments should be a major concern of the nowadays society.

In that case, how about letting the woman to de­fend her-self at to some extent? We, UOM Leos thought of giving some basic knowledge and ex­perience to the university students on self-de­fending joining hands with Mora Karate; the karate team of University of Moratuwa. 

The Self Defense Workshop was held on Febru­ary 25th, 2019 from 5 p.m. onwards at the Old Gymnasium on University premises with the participation of many girls who are interested in self-defense. The guidance was given by Mr. Pradeep Satharasinghe, the Representative of ISKF Sri Lanka branch and IKMA Sri Lanka branch, and the help of our own brothers and sisters of Mora karate. The event was highly appreci­ated by the participants that it was a novel experience for them and that it has devel­oped self-confidence and discipline in them.

අපි අකුරට මැළි නොවෙමු

Inspiring innocent souls with affection and kindness leads their minds to achieve the greatest
success that they admire. Though it seems easy to inspire children, their society, family
background and infrastructure facilities lay down a barrier to prevent those little buds from
blooming with courage and enthusiasm.



As an effort to uplift the skills and abilities of Grade 11 students of Bandaranayake Maha
Vidyalaya, Wanathawilluwa, the Leo club of university of Moratuwa has initiated a remarkable project as “අපි අකුරට මැළි නොවෙමු “with the utmost hope of guiding the children in rural
schools towards accomplishing their ambitions and goals.
The project was conducted annually as a single project until this year, but from 2019 onwards
the UoM Leos accepted the challenge of conducting the project as a seminar series. The initial seminar of the series was conducted on 23 rd February 2019 with the kind participation of Leos and prospects.

Mathematics has become the key element in the education system that opens the gates of
higher education. Although it is not acceptable, it is essential to have a sound knowledge on

Mathematics. With the immense dedication and effort of UoM Leos, they witnessed the
victorious completion of the first session of the seminar series covering the missed lessons and
lessons identified as difficult to understand for the children with fantastic and memorable
methodologies of teaching and learning.
The smiles and words of the children had the greatest magic of disappearing all the hardships
and their words of appreciation were a spell that gave the most solace to tiresome minds.

හැකි දුර සීමිතය.අවශ්‍යය තේරුම් ගැන්වීමය.ඒ තුලින් යායුතු මඟ එලිපෙහෙලි කිරීමය.
මෙකී කර්තව්‍යය උදෙසා මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝවරුන් පෙබරවාරි 09 වනදා
කෑ/වහකුල කනිෂ්ඨ විද්‍යාලයට නැණදියවර හය වන අදියර ගෙන ගියහ.

සිසු සිසුවියන් රැසක් උදෙසා ගණිත සම්මන්ත්‍රණ පවත්වා අසීරු යැයි මෙතෙක් අතහැර
තිබූ ඇතැම් විෂය කොටස් ඉතා සරලව,සිත්ගන්නාසුලු අන්දමින් ඔවුන්ගේ සිත් තුළට
කාවද්දවන්නට ලියෝවරුන් ගත් උත්සහය සුලුපටු නොවේ.
විවිධ විෂය සමගාමී ක්‍රියාකාරකම් හා ලියෝවරුන්ගේ රසකතා අතර ඔවුන්ගේ හීන
තුළට එබෙන්නට තරම් සමීප බවක් ළගාකර ගැනීම සැබවින්ම සතුටකි.සංකීර්ණ සූත්‍ර
සමීකරණ විසඳීම් අතර අප ඔවුන්ව වෙහෙසද්දී ඔවුනගේ තේරවිලි හා නොයෙකුත් සරල
ක්‍රීඩා අතර ඇතැම් අවස්ථාවලදී සැබවින්ම අතරමං වූයේ අප ය.
කෙසේ හෝ අවසානයක්ම නොවූවත් දවස අවසානයේ නීරස කරගත් විෂයකට යළි
පණපොවන්නට හැකි වූ බවක් දිටීමු.සතුට නම් එකී උත්සහයේ සාර්ථකත්වය ඒ ළපටි
දෑස් තුළ මෙන්ම අහිංසක දෙමාපියන්ගේ හා ගුරුවරුන්ගේ වචන තුළ ද තැවරී තිබෙනු
අසන්නට මෙන්ම දකින්නට ද ලැබීමය.
ඒ අනුව ලියෝවරුන් රැසකගේ කැපවීම හා උත්සහය මත නැණදියවර හයවන අදියර
මෙසේ සාර්ථකව නිම කරන ලදී.
