Corona Comics

With the prevailing condition of the world, Leos of University of Moratuwa was searching to do something more fruitful. We recognized that the public does not tend to go through the bulk of
monotonous content of safety matters and other kinds of needed stuff regarding Covid-19. So, most of them have not come up with good knowledge of how to face this situation. As a nice solution, we decided to publish a series of cartoons via Facebook and WhatsApp status.

We invited to submit cartoons to the public. We hoped to make aware of the artists themselves by drawing and finding ideas. We targeted people who have become bored because of the quarantine period by losing their daily routine. We supposed to bring their mind into a creative beautiful world and make their mood gleaming.
As we hoped, we are successfully continuing with this event now. We got many creative and informative cartoons by dedicated and creative souls. Huge thanks must be offered for them to their immense dedication on behalf of the community. We are posting one cartoon per day on our Facebook page to make awareness of the community.
As we wish that the community has grabbed the message better. All the feedbacks and comments we are getting, proves that idea to us. It is a great pleasure to conduct a successive event as Leos on behalf of the community under a serious situation of the country.

Mafia

Serving the community is the main objective of almost every non-profit organization in the world. As a leading Leo Club in the world, our Leo Club, Leo Club of University of Moratuwa has always been a great platform not only for community services but also to make future leaders of the society.

Among many leadership qualities such as vision, positivity and confidence, communication is a substantial quality to practice. For an organization to succeed, its body should maintain good communication within itself in taking decisions and discussing problems.
Mafia is a project done by Leo Club of University of Moratuwa focusing its own members, to enhance their interpersonal relationships and to have some fun by engaging in the 'Mafia' game. This was done in two days with the participation of current and past leos of our club in evenings after academic hours in the university tennis court enjoying the blowing pleasant breeze.
Spending some quality time getting to know each other and having immense joy, this project came to an end becoming another satisfied project by UoM Leos.

and the camp fire was a very success with the drams they presented.
The second day started with the PT session to warm them up for the task ahead. After that, the teams went on a hike that included a treasure hunt. Fun games were held in between the hike to improve the group work of the students. The cookery competition was conducted after the hike.
In the end, the winners were appreciated with awards and all the others were awarded a certificate of participation. Everyone was encouraged to correct their mistakes and to praise themselves for what they have achieved regardless of victory or defeat.

Araksha Phase 2

Children are the world’s most valuable resource and the best hope for the future. Therefore, all of us in the community has a paramount duty to protect them from their threats. One of the most
dangerous threats for children at the present moment are the drugs. The schools play an important role when it comes down to protecting children against child threats. Threats are one of the principal reasons why children don’t tend to educate, and it is also one of the causes of the alarming school dropout rates.

After considering the above situation, Leos of University of Moratuwa with the collaboration of the Leos of the University of Colombo Alumni organized a drug prevention and child protection seminar for the second time. This time, we conducted the seminar session at Kithulampitiya Ananda Vidyalaya on 27th February from 11.00 a.m. onwards.

We got massive support and guidance from the Galle police station to conduct this seminar session fruitfully. At the end of the seminar session, we were delighted with the feedback and comments of not only from the police station but also the school community.
