මනුසත්කම

We as human beings have a great responsibility to serve the mankind. All of us are bound together as beads of a necklace in the name of humanity. ”MANUSATHKAMA”is one such effort which made the word into real. It was conducted by prospects of UoM Leo club & students following life skills course on last 10^th of January 2016 at National Institute of Mental Health.

They have given the meaning of word humans to the whole world by conducting shramadana campaign to make the place more user friendly.National Institute of Mental Health is a place where people with mental disorders are treated.In a society where those people are cornered & neglected Leos have given a great example by giving them a helping hand. After shramadana campaign they joined to watch some paintings done by children residing there in order to motivate those little hearts.

We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone. If all of us can think in that way this will be a better place to live with. It is our pleasure if even a single person is prone to do something good to mankind.

Kolomthotin Yaalpaanamata

In spite of races, religions or skin colour we all are children of mother Sri Lanka. One may be from south or north but we all have a bond which keeps all of us together. So Leo club of University of Moratuwa decided to reinvigorate this friendship. As an innovative idea we decided to celebrate Thaippongal festival in a different manner.

With the rising of Thaippongal sun on 15th January 2016, we reached Jaffna with the message of fraternity. There was a heartwarming welcome from our Tamil friends at Jaffna. We celebrated a perfect Thaippongal day there. They showed us to draw “kolam” arts with colored rice. So we joined with them and designed colourful “kolam” arts. We worshiped a Kovil and experienced about their rituals. Then all of us were treated with “Pongal Rice” which can waters our mouths by a glance of remembrance. And also we did not forget to meet the Leos of Leo club of Manipay Parish and wish them a happy pongal. At the time of pongal sun says goodbye, Leos who participated for the event had a cluster of blissful moments to remember by experiencing the real thaippongal for the first time in their lives.

On the second day of our journey we decided to share the happiness in our hearts with those who are in need. War is one of bad memories every Sri Lankan has. Many children lost their parents due to this calamitous war. Muthuthamby Children’s Home in Jaffna is a place where such children live. They lost their parents love, living place and everything because of the war. These little children might have a dream to prepare Pongal rice with their parents, draw “Kolam” arts on their home garden. So festival season is not a happy time for them. We UoM Leos decided to bloom some smiling faces there in this season. We visited them day after ThaiPongal to blossom their dreams. Leo club of Manipay Parish was also joined with us to share love. We spend a whole day with them singing, dancing and having spellbinding chats with them. We distributed books among the children and could give them a carom board which was a requirement of the children’s home. At the end, it was hard to leave those smiling faces and shinning eyes.

 We were able to experience the joy and exuberance that occur when hearts come together. Indeed these festivals are sacred moments that help us to establish love and unity and nourish our relationships.

ගිලන් හදට තුරුණු සවිය

සතුටින් හිනවෙලා ඉන්න තරුණ ඔබ කවදාහරි හිතල තියෙනවද තමන්ට දැන් තියෙන ශක්තිය නැතිවෙලා තව කෙනෙක්ගෙ අත් වාරුවෙන් යන්න වෙන තවසක් එවි කියලා . නැහැ …තරුණ අපි කවුරුත් තමන්ගෙ ශක්තිය නොමැතිකම ගැනවත්  තව කෙනෙක්ගෙ උදව්වක් ගෙනවත් හිතන්නෙ නැහැ. එ වගේම එහෙම ශක්තියෙන්පිරිහී ගිය කෙනෙක් දෙස බලන තරුණ කෙනෙක් අද සමාජ ඉන්නෙත් ගොඩක් අඩුවෙන්. එ වගෙ තරුණ පරපුරක් බිහිවී යන කාලයකදි මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ ලියො සමාජයෙ සාමාජිකයන් තවත් ලියො සමාජ කීපයක් එක්ව තමන්ගෙ තරුණ සවියෙන් වික්ටොරියා වැඩිහිටි නිවාසේ විශේෂ අවශ්‍යතා ඇති ගිල පුද්ගලයන්ට, ගොඩාක් සතුටු හිතෙන මතකයන් ජිවිතයට එකත් කරගන්න පුලුවන් වුන දවසක් ලබා දුන්න…..ඒ දවස උදා උනේ නව වසරක් ගෙවිලා ගත වුනු දසවෙනි දවසේ…..

 මේ සත් ක්‍රියාව සඳහා කලුබෝවිල ලියො සමාජය, ගොඩිගමුව ලියො සමාජය සහ දෙහිවල උතුරු ලියො සමාජය එක් වුනා. තමන් සමාජයෙන් කොන් වෙලා කියලා හිත අස්සෙන් දුක් විදිනා පිරිසකට ලොව්කික සැප සම්පත් වලට වඩා වටින්නෙ තමන් කොන් වෙලා නැහැ …තමන්ව අගය කරන පිරිසක් ඉන්නවා ..තමන්ට අනුකම්පා නොකර ..තමන්ට ආදරය කරන පිරිසක් ඉන්නව කියලා දැනෙන්න දෙන එක….ඉතින් මේ තරුණ පිරිස එක්ව මෙම නිවාසය පිරිසිදු කරලා ඔවුන්ට අවශ්‍ය කරන බොහෝ දේ ලබා දුන්නා. ඊට වඩා වටිනා දෙය වුනේ ඔවුන් එක්ක එ ගත කල කාලය……

මොහොතකට ඔවුන්ගේ දුක් දොම්නස් අමතක කරලා දෙන්න ලියො සාමජිකයන්ට හැකි වුනා….

ඉතින් ඔබත් ඔබට අවට ඇති පරිසරය ගෙන මිනිසුන් ගැන හදවතින් බලන්න..අනිත් බොහෝ  මිනිසුන් ඔබ වගේ නොවන බවත්  ඔබගෙ උදව් ඕන වන පිරිසක් සිටින බවත්  තේරුන් ගතහොත් ඔබට තරුණ ජවයෙන් උපරිම පල නෙලගන්නට හැකිවේවි…

මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝ සමාජය විසින් සෑම මසකට වරක්ම සිදු කරනු ලබන e-mail හරහා දැනුවත් කිරීමේ වැඩසටහන 'Get To Know & Put a Full Stop' නම් වෙනවා.
පසුගිය ජුලි මාසයේ 28 දා ලෝක හෙපටයිටීස් දිනය තිබුනා. ඒ නිමිත්තෙන් අප ජුලි මස දැනුවත් කිරීමේ වැඩසටහන සිදු කලා. මෙහිදී අප සතු ලියෝවරුන්ගේ සහ ලයන්වරුන්ගේ සියලුම විද්‍යුත් ලිපිනවලට මෙම පනිවිඩය යවනු ලැබුවා.
මෙහිදී හෙපටයිටිස් රෝගය පිලිබඳව දැනුවත් කිරීමත් එය වලක්වා ගන්නා අකාරය පෙන්වා දීමත් අප අරමුන වුනා.
